Make Way for Books is trying to reach families in the most innovative and creative way possible, traveling out into the community to provide early literacy programming that meets families where they are!

Make Way for Books

Research indicates that the most important factors for a child’s educational success are an introduction to books and being read to from an early age. Yet, 2/3 of children in poverty do not have books at home and are not read to regularly. Make Way for Books’ mission is to give all children the chance to read and succeed. Make Way for Books (MWFB) was founded in 1998. For 17 years, MWFB has promoted early childhood literacy in limited resource areas of Tucson and southern Arizona. Literacy changes lives—especially young lives. MWFB helps get children on the right track from the beginning by providing early literacy programming to make reading an important part of families’ lives and an important part of child care and early childhood education.
